BeaverTails to launch shipping container-style retail space at IAAPA

BeaverTails, a Canadian cakes and pastries company, is launching a new store concept directed at the attractions industry.

Like a small shipping container, the retail space is flexible, movable and easily fits into a park’s existing infrastructure. The mini container store concept, measuring 10ft x 8ft (3m x 2.4m) and costing US$65,000 (£53,000, €59,000), will be officially launched at the trade show, where a prototype will be on show.

According to BeaverTails, the mobile unit can be staffed by up to four people and has the potential to serve up to 200 pastries per hour.

“We are very pleased to introduce our new mini container concept at this year’s IAAPA,” said Pino Di Ioia, CEO, BeaverTails. “We have more than 30 years of experience with food service managers at leading amusement parks and other top leisure destinations. Based on this experience, we are confident that the efficiency and simplicity of this mobile unit will be very interesting for food service professionals. Most importantly, the modest footprint and high output potential present an exceptional opportunity.”

Di Ioia said the business model is attractive for several reasons, including being easy to operate and retailing a wide variety of product at an affordable price.

BeaverTails has distribution agreements in place in several countries outside North America, including Japan, South Korea and the UAE. This is a worldwide offering.
